Working with us

Are you an agent or a broker?

Short answer

We are licensed, independent health insurance agents — which means we can show you plans from more than one insurance company.

What the terms mean

"Agent" and "broker" are often used interchangeably, and the exact meaning can vary by state.

  • A captive agent works for a single insurance company and can only offer that company's plans.
  • An independent agent (sometimes called a broker) is appointed with several insurers and can compare plans across them.

What that means for you

Because we're independent, we can compare options from the insurers we're appointed with and explain the differences in plain English. We'll tell you which companies we work with in your area.

How to check a licence

Every state keeps a public record of licensed insurance agents. You can look us up on your state's department of insurance website using our name or National Producer Number (NPN).

  • Is your service free?

Licensed agents are usually paid a commission by the insurance company when someone enrolls in a plan. In most cases this doesn't change the premium you pay — the plan costs the same whether you enroll on your own or with an agent's help.

  • Which states are you licensed in?

Insurance agents must be licensed in the state where you live in order to sell you a health plan. If you live in a state where we're not licensed, we won't be able to enroll you, but we're happy to point you in the right direction.
